This position will support a Department of Energy office. The mission of this office is to provide centralized infrastructure planning processes; real estate services; program management for operations of facilities, maintenance, recapitalization, disposition, and line-item construction and perform project and contract management of line-item construction and major items of equipment. 


This position is remote, with the expectation that candidates can work during Eastern Time Zone office hours. Residency in the United States is a mandatory requirement.

Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Leadership: Direct and control IT project activities, establishing clear goals that align with the program's objectives. Leverage deep domain and expert technical knowledge to guide project direction and decision-making.
  • Project Management Excellence: Plan and lead major technology assignments, evaluating performance results, and recommending changes affecting short-term project growth and success. Ensure the highest standards of project management practices are upheld.
  • Innovation and Solution Development: Function as a technical expert across multiple project assignments, fostering innovation and originality in solving complex problems. Drive the development of methodologies and solutions that enhance project outcomes.
  • Client and Senior Management Interface: Engage in negotiations and interface with senior management and clients, effectively communicating complex technical concepts and project strategies. Ensure client needs are met, aligning project deliverables with business objectives.
  • Financial and Resource Management: Oversee financial management, methods, and staffing for technology assignments, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and projects are delivered within budget constraints.
  • Risk Analysis and Mitigation: Conduct thorough risk analysis for project initiatives, developing and implementing robust mitigation strategies to address potential challenges and ensure project continuity.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor project teams, promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Encourage professional growth and development within the team.
Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, with professional certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) highly regarded.
  • At least 10+ years of progressive experience in IT project management, including significant experience in managing large-scale, complex IT projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, project management methodologies, and leading-edge IT technologies.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with a proven ability to motivate, guide, and manage high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of identifying and addressing complex project challenges.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a track record of successful stakeholder engagement and management at all organizational levels.
  • Deep understanding of the Clean Energy Security Program and the Inflation Reduction Act, with the ability to align IT project initiatives with legislative requirements and objectives.
Additional Requirements:
  • Availability to travel as needed for project requirements and stakeholder meetings.
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain or currently hold the necessary security clearances required for the project.
  • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearances requirements, US citizenship is required.
  • This position is remote, with the expectation that candidates can work during Eastern Time Zone office hours. Residency in the United States is a mandatory requirement.
